Russian Andrei Rublev became the second tennis player in history to be beaten in the quarter-finals of seven consecutive Grand Slam tournaments, in which he reached this stage.
On Wednesday, Rublev lost to the Serbian Novak Djokovic with a score of 1:6, 2:6, 4:6 in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. Previously, Rublev reached the quarter-finals at the Australian Open 2021, at Roland Garros in 2020 and 2022, and three times at the US Open (2017, 2020, 2022).
Earlier, Spaniard Tommy Robredo couldn’t break the quarter-final barrier in seven Grand Slams in a row.
Djokovic will face American Tommy Paul in the semi-finals of the 2023 Australian Open.
