Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov who was beaten in the Australian Open semi-finals by Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, said he was leaving the tournament with his head held high.
Khachanov, 26, lost to Tsitsipas with a score of 6:7 (2), 4:6, 7:6 (6), 3:6. For the Russian, this is the first semi-final of the Australian Open of his career and the second consecutive Grand Slam tournament after the US Open last year.
“I couldn’t pass this stage for the second time in a row. I definitely leave the tournament with my head held high. You always need to take lessons, experience to advance and improve,” the tournament’s press service said, quoting Khachanov.
In 2022, in the United States, Khachanov lost in the semi-finals to Norwegian Kasper Ruud in four sets.
Tsitsipas will face Serbian Novak Djokovic in the final.
