President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Shamil Tarpishchev in a conversation with a correspondent, he noted that those who reached the final of the Australian Open Junior Mirra Andreeva and Alina Korneeva, as well as other young domestic tennis players, can fight for victory in adult Grand Slam tournaments in a few years.
Korneeva beat Japanese Sayaka Ishii (2:6, 6:4, 6:2) in the Australian Open semifinals, and Andreeva beat Briton Rana Akua Stoiber (6:3, 6:3) . Thus, 15-year-old Russians will compete in the final for victory in the tournament.
“They are very good girls. In general, we have a whole galaxy of good young tennis players. The prospects are great. I think in a few years they will be competing for adult Grand Slams, just like the guys,” said Tarpishchev told .
