Timofey Skatov, who has just been a finalist in the Challenger de Concepción, has anticipated the next confrontation between his country and those led by Nicolás Massú to be held at La Serena.
Next weekend of February 4 and 5 the Chilean Davis Cup team will face their peers Kazakhstan a series that will take place in the Trentino Club of La Serena and which gives the winner the upgrade to global contest group .
In this sense, one of the most outstanding actors in Asian distribution is Timofey Skatov (144th) who is called to be the second unique player of his country, a team that leads on the field Alexander Bublik (36°) .
For the 22-year-old tennis player, Chile is not an unknown country : this week he challenged the Concepcion Challenger championship where he fell in the definition with the Argentinian Federico Coria (76th) and in which he has already seen the faces with a national –Alejandro Tabilo (102nd) – in the quarter-finals.
And if that wasn’t enough, had said present in the Challenger of Coquimbo 2 which took place in October last year, a tournament he said goodbye to in the semi-finals when he lost to the trans-Andean as well Facundo Diaz Acosta (203rd) .
In this way, it is not surprising that Skatov feels at home in the country: “I like playing here. I like being in Chile, these conditions and playing on clay. I feel good” highlighted the current 144th in the ATP rankings at Al Aire Libre de Cooperativa.
In this sense, the native of Petropavl added that “The conditions suit me because they are quite similar to where I normally trained four years ago (Valencia, Spain). It is the same, at sea level and quite slow” .
Asked about the Chilean team, Skatov believes that “It’s going to be difficult. They are all very good tennis players in the lead and they always play well on clay. They want to win every point, they go all out and with them it is always very difficult matches” he said about it.
However, the Kazakh feels he personally has options to get good results against Nicolás Massú’s students: “I play well and I do my job, and it has given me results” he concluded.
