Ukrainian and Elena Ostapenko defeated rivals from Belgium
Ukrainian Lyudmila Kichenok and Elena Ostapenko from Latvia reached the semi-finals of the doubles tournament Roland Garros.
In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian-Latvian couple defeated Marina Zanevskaya and Kimberly Zimmerman from Belgium in three sets. During the match, Kichenok and Ostapenko converted seven out of nine breakpoints and fired four times.
In the 1/2 finals, Kichenok and Ostapenko will play against the winners of the match Caroline Garcia / Kristina Mladenovic (France) – Xu Yifan / Yang Zhaoxuan (China).
Lyudmila became the fourth Ukrainian woman to play in the doubles semi-final at Roland Garros, after Olena Tatarkova (2001) and sisters Alena and Kateryna Bondarenko (2008).
Today, another Ukrainian, Marta Kostyuk, lost her match in the doubles quarterfinals.
