Elina hasn’t played since last March
Former first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina plans to return to the WTA tour in April.
“I will return to the tour in April – this is my task, which I try to take on. Let’s see what physical and mental state I’ll be in. I have scheduled for April. We will watch with my husband how our daughter will feel, travel with us, how she will be on the tennis tour.”
Svitolina suspended performances at the end of March last year, preparing for the birth of her daughter. The Ukrainian lost the title of the first racket of the country during her vacation. Now Elina has already started the training process.
Recently, a Ukrainian woman launched a special Athlete’s Mental Health program for children aged 11-16. The course itself will last three months and will be held online.
Elina is an ambassador of the UNITED24 platform, created to provide financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, civilians, as well as to restore Ukraine from the consequences of Russian military aggression.
Earlier, Svitolina, together with Sergei Stakhovsky, sold their rackets at a charity auction and donated the proceeds to funds to help the Ukrainian people.
Also, Elina, as a referee, held a charity match with the participation of the first racket of the world, Igi Sventek. The event helped raise about 422,000 euros to help Ukraine.
In December, Svitolina held a charity gala dinner in Monaco. During the event, 170 thousand euros were collected for generators for Ukrainian hospitals.
