Isner became the first tennis player to win 500 World Tour tiebreaks

American John Isner became the first tennis player to win in his career 500 tiebreaks at the level world tour.

In the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Dallas against Emilio Gomez from Ecuador, Isner won the first set on a tie-break with a score of 10:8. The win was a jubilee for the American. The second game also took place in a tense struggle, in which Isner managed to win before the tie-break – 7:5.

“I won a lot of tiebreaks in my career and in the first set I won a record 500. I am very glad that I did not have to win 501, ”said the tennis player after the match.

Isner is already 34 career tiebreakers ahead of retired Roger Federer. Third on the list in the Open Era is Pete Sampras (328). The top ten also includes world number one Novak Djokovic (299) and Rafael Nadal (263).
