In the semi-finals, the 23-year-old defeated eighth seeded USA Taylor Fritz, seeded under number one, 6:7 (3:7), 7:5, 6:4 . The meeting lasted 2 hours and 33 minutes.
Wu Yibin has become the first Chinese player to reach the final of an Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament. The Hangzhou native will face fellow American John Isner (fifth seed) in the final.
