Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova said she did not expect to win the WTA 250 tournament in Linz, Austria because she did not arrive at the competition in the best condition.
On Sunday, Potapova won the Upper Austria Ladies Linz tournament for over $250,000 in prize money. In the final, the Russian beat Croatian Petra Martic 6:3, 6:1.
“It’s been a tough week. To be honest, it was an unexpected result for me, because I didn’t come here in the best shape, I had microtraumas.
After the first match, I just said to myself: “If I can show such a level, maybe I can try to go as far as possible in this tournament.” I succeeded, and every day I felt better and better. By the end, I was as fresh as can be. I felt even better than before the first round, – the WTA website quotes Potapova.
Potapova, who turns 22 on March 30, won her second WTA singles title.
