Athletistic/Tennis. Former tennis player, Olympic champion in singles Yevgeny Kafelnikov hailed the performance of Russian tennis players at the Roland Garros tournament.

“Based on what happened before the start of the tournament, if they told me that two of our tennis players would reach the second week, I would answer that it exceeds our desires. In practice, Medvedev and Rublev have reached this stage, and the disappointment remains that they could not reach the semi-finals or the final. In general, I think the performance was successful, both in the men’s part and in the women’s part, where our Dasha Kasatkina will play in the semi-finals today,” Kafelnikov said.

Russian tennis players Daniil Medvedev and Andrei Rublev were eliminated by Croatian Marin Cilic in the 1/8 and 1/4 finals respectively. In women’s singles, Russians Veronika Kudermetova and Daria Kasatkina met in a full-time duel in the quarterfinals, where Kasatkina won – 6:4, 7:6.

Daria qualified for the semi-finals, where she will play with the world’s first racket – Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek. The meeting will take place on June 2, starting at 4:00 p.m. Moscow time.
