Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina announced the end of cooperation with Spanish coach Carlos Martinez.
Kasatkina has been training with Martinez since 2019. The 25-year-old athlete does not reveal the name of the new specialist.
– Of course, it was scary to end such a long working relationship with the coach. It’s difficult, we’ve been working for almost four years. Starting a new (relationship) is scary, especially as the season progresses. You don’t know the person at all. It’s hard for me and for him. We don’t know each other at all. He doesn’t know if it’s worth saying no. I don’t know how a person works. Of course, it is difficult.
Ideally, if we change coach, it is better to do it either at the end of the season, or when there is a training block, so that we know each other a little. There are all kinds of unforeseen situations in life. It’s hard, but whatever is done is for the best,” Kasatkina said in an interview on Natalya Zabiyako’s YouTube channel.
Kasatkina is ranked eighth in the world rankings, the tennis player has six victories in WTA tournaments.
