Former doubles world No. 1 Sanya Mirza retires

Indian tennis player Sanya Mirza played the last match of his professional career.

Earlier, the 36-year-old tennis player announced that she would be retiring in February after the Dubai tournament. In the first round of this doubles tournament, Mirza and American Madison Keys lost to Russians Veronika Kudermetova and Lyudmila Samsonova with a score of 4:6, 0:6.

Mirza began her career in 2003. She has won six Grand Slam tournaments (three in women’s doubles, three in mixed doubles); won 44 WTA tournaments (43 doubles, one singles). Previously, the tennis player held the first place in the doubles ranking. Mirza took a career break in 2018-20 due to the birth of a child.
