Athletistic/Tennis. One of the most famous Russian tennis players is Daniil Medvedev. He made serious progress in 2020 and 2021. At the end of 2020, he became the winner of the final ATP tournament. There he beat Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem. In 2021, the Russian became the winner of the Grand Slam tournament. He won the US Open beating Novak Djokovic in the final.

All of Medvedev’s results led to the fact that in February 2022 the Russian became the world’s leading racket. Later he lost this status, but in the summer he returned it again. As a result, Daniil Medvedev became the record holder among Russians for the number of weeks spent on the first line of the ATP rankings.

Then the situation started to deteriorate. Daniil Medvedev didn’t manage to go far at the US Open. After that, he became the fourth racket in the world. He then dropped to seventh in the ATP. The start of 2023 also did not work out – the result at the Australian Open was not impressive. As a result, the Russian dropped out of the top 10 in the ATP rankings.

Last week there was a tournament in Rotterdam, the city of the Netherlands. Daniil Mevedev managed to win by beating the Italian Yannick Sinner in the final. This is the first title for a Russian since last October. The victory allowed him to return to the top 10 of the world rankings and become the first racket in the world.

This week, Daniil Medvedev again appeared in court. He participated in the tournament in Doha, the capital of Qatar, which is called the Qatar Exon Mobil Open and has the ATP-250 category. The Russian started his participation in the second round. There he defeated British tennis player Liam Broedy in straight sets – 6: 3, 6: 4. In the 1/4 finals, Medvedev managed to beat Australian Christopher O’Connell – 6:2, 4: 6, 7:5. In the semi-finals, the Russian again met the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime. Medvedev managed to defeat his opponent in the second week – 6:4, 7:6 (9:7).

In the final, Daniil Medvedev’s opponent was two-time British Olympic champion Andy Murray. The match was not easy, but the Russian pulled it off. He beat his opponent in straight sets – 6:4, 6:4. Thus, Daniil Medvedev won the title for the second week in a row. In total, it has 17 titles.

News of Daniil Medvedev’s victory in the Doha tournament also did not get through to outsiders. They left their comments on the English forum pages Men’s Tennis Forum. Translation done Inoprosport.

– Daniil is the savior of world tennis!

Sr8685:
– “The savior of world tennis”? Are you serious? I roll on the floor laughing! Nadal and Djokovic beat him again with a left. What can he save?

Wow:
– To be fair, it was a shoddy game. The two tennis players looked terrible.

Johnny Groove:
– On the contrary, it seemed to me that Med looked very solid.

Wow:
– The fact that Medvedev won another title is cool. I can’t say that I’m such a big fan of him, but tennis has to bring him back to his best level.

Sick :
– Daniil’s return of self-confidence will really benefit tennis. He must start winning big tournaments again!

Chechelsea:
– Nine in a row! Congratulations, Medvedev!

joshi:
– Maddy wins the second title in a row! It looks like Daniil is about to have a promising season after all the disappointments that happened to him in 2022.

Mtkwal:
– Medvedev’s style is really boring, but still, he’s very good at what he does.

FilipoSvk:
– Holy Honey returns to the fore! As expected, he wins here in two games. For the second week in a row, the trophies are in good hands. These victories should boost Medvedev’s self-esteem ahead of Indian Wells and Miami.

Fair play:
– I am a great connoisseur of Medvedev’s game and I am happy to see that he is once again taking steps in the right direction.
