1995 Davis Cup finalist Andrey Chesnokov has admitted to RB Sport what he expects from Daniel Medvedev an easier victory over the British Andy Murray in the final of the ATP tournament in Doha.
In the final, the Russian defeated Murray with the score 6:4, 6:4.
– After the Rotterdam hall, it was not easy for Daniil to switch to an open court. Again, it seems, the toughest were the first two games. A very interesting match was with Auger-Alyassime.
The final was very good, spectacular. I liked that there were a lot of fans. The quality of tennis was at a high level, there were a lot of very interesting draws. I expected Medvedev to beat Murray easier. But, of course, I didn’t expect that at the very end Murray would lose his serve with the score of 40:0. But for Murray, you can only take your hat off to him for the level at which he plays with his problematic leg. Murray’s level of play is way above his position in the standings, Chesnokov noted.
Medvedev won the second tournament in a row, last week he won the tournament in Rotterdam. In the updated ATP rankings, the tennis player is expected to rise to seventh place.
