Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic expressed his gratitude to the fans after updating the record for the duration of being on the top line of the world rankings, noting that he was proud of the achievement.
The ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) was updated on Monday, this week will be the 378th for the Serb in the rank of first racket in the world. It surpassed the feat of Germany’s Steffi Graf, who led the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings for 377 weeks.
“Of course, thanks to your love and the great strength you have given me over the years, I have been able to achieve many fantastic achievements throughout my career. The most recent record is 378 weeks at No. 1, ahead of one of the greatest players, men and women, Steffi Graf. I’m flattered and obviously extremely proud and happy with this achievement,” Djokovic told the ATP website.
In the ATP rankings, Djokovic is ahead of Spaniard Carlos Alcaras and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, who are in the top 3.
