Hispanic Rafael Nadal became the first participant in the Roland-Garros final after his opponent in the semi-finals Alexander Zverev received a serious injury.
Nadal took the first set in a tie-break, regaining the score 2:6. In the second game, the opponents also reached a tie-break, after which Zverev injured his leg and was forced to leave the field in a special wheelchair.
The match was in the “medical timeout” status for a while, but then it became clear that Zverev was unable to continue the game. The German returned to the pitch on crutches, hugged Nadal and congratulated him on his victory.
The second runner-up at Roland Garros and Nadal’s opponent will be determined later on Friday in a match between Croatian Marin Cilic and Norwegian Kaper Ruud.
