Roland Garros director apologizes for words about less attractive women’s tennis

Director of the French Open Tennis Championship Amelie Mauresmo apologized for calling the women’s matches less appealing to viewers than the men’s, noting that her comments were taken out of context.

Earlier, Mauresmo, explaining why the men’s game is more often the main game of the tournament schedule during the evening session, noted that men’s tennis is now more attractive.

“I want to apologize to the players who were really upset because of what I said. The comments I made were taken out of context. People who have known me throughout my career on and off the court understand that I fight for equal rights and the advancement of women’s tennis.

Next year, in order to achieve more equity for the women, and even for the men, it would be nice to be able to have two main matches in the evening, or perhaps a women’s match and a doubles match. We will try to find the best solution to be fair to everyone, — quotes the words of Mauresmo ESPN .
