The first racket in the world, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic denied entry to the United States. US Senator Rick Scott announced it on Twitter.
Djokovic applied for permission to enter the United States without being vaccinated against coronavirus infection, but was refused. Scott urged US President Joe Biden to personally intervene in this situation and allow Djokovic into the country.
“Joe needs to fix this now, give an exception and let Djokovic play USA,” he wrote.
Earlier, US authorities extended the entry ban for unvaccinated athletes until May 11. Thus, Djokovic will not participate in the next tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami.
The day before, Djokovic lost to Russian Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals of the Dubai tournament (UAE).
