Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud For the first time in his career, he will play in the final of the Grand Slam tournament. He beat Marina Cilica in the semi-finals of Roland-Garros.
Ruud, 23, ranked eighth in the world rankings, lost in the first set but then won in the next three matches.
The match lasted just under three hours, with the winner scoring 16 aces without a single double fault. Cilic filed 10 times.
In the third set, the match was interrupted for about 10 minutes after an activist who ran onto the court chained herself to the net, the action was dedicated to nature conservation. The incident was quickly resolved.
For Ruud, reaching the final was another improvement on his own achievement at Grand Slams – his previous best result was the 4th round of the Australian Open in 2021.
In the final, the Norwegian will play with Rafael Nadal, who reached the decisive match at Roland Garros for the 14th time in his career on Friday. Spaniard rival Alexander Zverev seriously injured his leg in the second set and was unable to continue the game.
