Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the head of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Shamil Tarpishcheva happy birthday, noting that thanks to his professionalism, Russian athletes adequately defend the honor of the country at international competitions.
On Tuesday, March 7, Tarpishchev turned 75.
“Dear Shamil Anviarovitch! I congratulate you on your 75th birthday.
The main activity of your life was coaching, mentoring, developing the national tennis school, strengthening its winning traditions. Largely thanks to your professionalism, energy, creative attitude to the tasks at hand, Russian tennis players worthily defend the sporting honor of our country at the most prestigious international competitions, demonstrate excellent preparation, of character and will. I wish you success, health and all the best,” the telegram says, published on the Kremlin website .
Tarpischev has been president of the FTR since 1999.
