Florida governor asks Biden to allow Djokovic to enter US to play in Miami

Florida Governor Ron De Santis has urged US President Joe Biden to let the Serbian world number 1 into the country. Novak Djokovic participate in the Miami tournament.

Earlier, media reported that Djokovic requested permission to enter the United States without being vaccinated against the coronavirus infection but was refused. US authorities have extended the travel ban for unvaccinated athletes until May 11.

“Djokovic’s presence in our country does not pose a significant risk to public health or safety. The only thing keeping him from participating in the Miami tournament is the Biden administration’s misguided and unscientific request to vaccinate foreigners against COVID-19. Mr President, remove the restrictions and let him compete, ”wrote Ron De Santis on Twitter.

Djokovic is 35 years old and 22 times Grand Slam winner. He previously withdrew from the Indian Wells tournament.
