Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk lost the opening match at the tournament WTA 1000 in Indian Wells (USA).
In the first round, the Ukrainian lost to the 103rd racket of the world Rebecca Peterson from Sweden in three sets. In the first game, Kostyuk was leading 5:3, but could not submit a set. In the decisive set, Marta was losing 0:3, but managed to level the score and took the lead 5:4 in the end. However, the Swedish tennis player held her serve, made a break and filed for the match. The duel lasted almost three hours.
Note that in this fight Kostyuk made 17 double faults and lost eight games on her serve.
In Indian Wells, Kostyuk will also play in doubles. Together with the Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse, she will enter the court against the third seeded pair – Lyudmila Kichenok / Elena Ostapenko (Ukraine / Latvia).
