Rodnina appreciated the information about the “code of conduct” of Russians for participation in Wimbledon

Three-time Olympic champion and deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Irina Rodnina spoke about reports from the British media about the intention of Wimbledon organizers to introduce a special code of conduct for Russian tennis players.

According to the Daily Mail, Russian tennis players will only be allowed at Wimbledon after signing a special code of conduct. The document is being finalized, but it is expected that Russian tennis players will be required during the tournament to refuse any overt show of support for their country, any positive comments about the Russian Federation, as well as the wearing of the flag. In case of violation of the code, sanctions can be applied to Russians, up to and including expulsion.

What’s in this code? If the flag is banned, then everything has been known about it for a long time, people talk about it without it for a long time. And you can only glorify the country by your results. It will be glorification, – said Rodnina Vprognoze.ru.

The Russians and Belarusians have been suspended from the Wimbledon tournament in 2022 due to events in Ukraine. For this, the organizers of the competition were fined one million dollars, and the WTA and ATP deprived the tournament of ranking points.

Wimbledon 2023 will take place from July 3-16.
