Elina trained under him for several weeks in Switzerland
The new coach of the former first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina became a Dutchman Ramon Slater.
Under his guidance, Elina has been training in Switzerland for the past few weeks. Now Slater is preparing the Ukrainian for the first tournament after more than a year’s pause. Svitolina plans to compete at the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston, which starts on April 3rd.
Slater previously coached the Dutch Kiki Bertens, and brought her to the fourth line of the world rankings. Last year, the specialist worked with Tallon Grikspur (36th number in the ATP rating).
In December, Svitolina resumed training. Elina’s husband, French tennis player Gael Monfils, said that the tennis player is very motivated to return to the sport.
Svitolina suspended performances at the end of March, preparing for the birth of her daughter. The Ukrainian lost the title of the first racket of the country during her vacation. Now Elina is ranked 875th in the WTA rankings.
