Djokovic will not play in the tournament in Miami and will begin preparations for the clay season

The first racket of the world did not make an exception for entering the United States due to the lack of a vaccine

The first racket of the world Novak Djokovic won’t play at the ATP Masters 1000 series tournament in Miami (USA).

“We tried to get an exception for Djokovic, but it didn’t happen. We would like the best tennis players to participate in our tournament. We tried to negotiate with the US government, but to no avail,” said tournament director James Blake.

Djokovic has been banned from entering the US due to lack of a coronavirus vaccine. The Serb hoped that a special invitation would be made for him. The governor of Florida and two congressmen asked to make an exception for the first racket of the world, but the American authorities did not violate the general rules.

Due to the lack of vaccinations, the Serb missed the Masters series tournament in Indian Wells. Now Djokovic is preparing for the clay season. The next tournament on his schedule is the Masters in Monte Carlo starting on April 9th.
