Briton donates prize money to help Ukrainian children
Former world number one Andy Murray said he helped financially Ukraine to resist a full-scale Russian invasion.
The Briton announced the corresponding assistance in March, cooperating with the international organization UNICEF.
“I donate my prize money to UNICEF, an organization I have been working with for several years. What is happening in Ukraine now is terrible. Children are forced to flee their homes, they are separated from their families or even killed, ”said the tennis player.
“I cannot do much, but I try to help the people of Ukraine in some way. Money can be directed to different needs – UNICEF knows best what to do with it. The situation is constantly changing. But the money goes to help families.”
Murray has already earned over $419,000 in prize money this season.
