The national tennis player was ruled out of the Dutch tournament after losing a 6-3 brace to the Russian after almost an hour of play.
Alejandro Tabilo (82nd in the ATP rankings) remained in the first round of the ATP 250 at ‘s-Hertogenbosch after falling to Russian Karen Khachanov (23rd) for a 6-3 double in the Dutch tournament which is played on a grass surface.
The task has always been complex for the national athlete. One of the first complications came in the third game of the first set in which he had to fight to avoid the two break chances the Russian had in his favor.
However, Tabilo couldn’t do anything in the fifth Game , giving up his serve and giving the lead to Khachanov who, after confirming it, took the lead 4-2. This advantage allowed the Russian to manage the game better. . His only scare came in the eighth game, when he had to save a break option that Tabilo couldn’t take.
Already in the ninth, a new break allowed the current number 23 in the ATP rankings to take the first set with a clear 6-3. .
In the second set, an exchange of breaks in games two and three showed the Canada native could do something against his rival. But that fell apart a few minutes later in the sixth Game.
There, Tabilo could do nothing and Karen Khachanov pulled out all the stops, taking advantage of a triple break option to come back 4-2 . In this way, he only had to hold his serve to win the set and the match in 59 minutes of play.
Thus, the Russian will have to face the Pole Kamil Majchrzak in the second round of the tournament for the passage to the quarter-finals.
For his part, Alejandro Tabilo will have to focus on the ATP 500 in London which will take place at the Queen’s Club, which is also played on grass, in which he will start by playing the qualifying matches for the main draw.
