Martina Navratilova’s good news: “Can say I’m cancer free”

The Czech-born tennis player, multiple champion, announced that his severe throat and chest pain was “in remission stage” after successful treatment.

Tennis player of Czech origin and naturalized American Martina Navratilova, 9-time Wimbledon champion, announced that she was diagnosed with throat and breast cancer at the end of last year he was “in remission” after successful medical treatment.

“From what I found out, it can be said that I am free from cancer”revealed the former great champion, 66, in an interview he gave to the British media Talk TV and which was reproduced by the Spanish sports newspapers Marca and AS.

Navratilova, a tennis legend with 18 Grand Slam titles that elevated her to world number one, and a total collection of 167 titles on the WTA circuit, underwent intensive treatment for cancer diagnosed in 2010 but re-emerges in force by the end of 2022.

“When the doctors told me, I was in a panic for three days thinking that I might not be able to see by next Christmas. A bucket list of all the things I’d like to do if I only had one year to live came to mind.” Navratilova admitted.

The tennis player underwent radiation treatment daily for three weeks and three weekly rounds of chemotherapy. “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life”concluded Navratilova.
