National teams of Belarus suspended from team tournaments of the organization
Belarusian Tennis Federation appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to suspend its membership in the organization.
The corresponding decision was made in March against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, which is carried out with the support of Belarus.
As a result of the ITF decision, Russian and Belarusian teams are not allowed to participate in international tournaments under the auspices of the organization, and aggressor countries cannot host ITF tournaments.
The organizers of Wimbledon will also not allow Belarusian and Russian tennis players to participate in their competitions in June, which is why the tournament was deprived of rating points.
ATP and WTA allow Belarusians and Russians to play in their tournaments under a neutral flag. The Russian invasion of Ukraine continues for 104 days.
