The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has reached out to Russian athletes, recommending that they be admitted to international competitions under certain conditions, this opinion was expressed by the Olympic tennis champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov .
The IOC executive committee recommended on Tuesday that if Russians are admitted to international competitions, this should be done individually, in a neutral status, without participation in team events, and also to exclude the participation of athletes associated with the forces of the ‘order.
– It doesn’t matter what the “hot” heads say now (on one side or the other), but it’s a small step forward for our sport! Once again, a helping hand is extended to us, and that is very good,” Kafelnikov wrote on his Twitter page.
The IOC also announced that the issue of admitting Russians and Belarusians to the Paris Olympics will be resolved later.
