Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova failed to reach the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament, which takes place in Miami, USA.
In the quarter-final match, the Russian lost in three sets to the representative of the United States Jessica Pegula , which occupies the 3rd place in the WTA rankings. The meeting lasted 2 hours and 37 minutes. In the third set, with the score at 5:4, Potapova had two match points on her serve, but Pegula first managed to regain the lead and then took over in a tie-break.
Potapova, 21, failed to reach the semi-finals of the 1000 category tournament for the first time in her career – her best achievement remains the quarter-finals of the competition in Dubai in 2021 and the current one.
In the semi-finals, Pegula will play with Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan.
