Russia’s honored coach Vladimir Kamelzon has admitted that he is very happy for the Russian tennis players who will have the opportunity to play at Wimbledon in 2023.
– I can feel nothing but complete satisfaction about the admission of the Russians to speak at Wimbledon. I am very happy for Russian tennis players. We have very good guys – Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov. And there are young people on the way. I think that’s great news, good luck. Finally, foreign federations are beginning to understand that the absence of Russian tennis players impoverishes the tournament, Kamelzon said in an interview with RT.
On Friday, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), which is the organizer of Wimbledon, announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the competition in a neutral status and under certain conditions. In particular, athletes will be prohibited from publicly expressing their support for SVO at the tournament, receiving funds from states, and also having state-owned companies controlled by Russia and Belarus as sponsors.
Wimbledon 2023 will take place from July 3-16.
