Daniel Medvedev became the first tennis player since 1981 to reach the final in five consecutive tournaments.
The day before, the Russian tennis player had reached the final of the Miami Masters. Earlier this month he lost the final in Indian Wells, and three weeks before that he had won back-to-back titles in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai.
The last time he reached the final in five consecutive tournaments was Ivan Lendl. This means that modern tennis stars such as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have never reached five consecutive finals.
In the Masters final in Miami, Medvedev will face the winner of the pair Carlos Alcaras (Spain, 1) – Yannick Sinner (Italy, 10).
