Fifth racket in the Russian world Daniel Medvedev shared his emotions after winning the final of the Miami tennis tournament.
Medvedev, who received the fourth seed, beat the Italian in the final Yannika Sinner with a score of 7:5, 6:3. This title was the Russian’s fourth this season and the 19th of his career, it is also his fifth trophy at the Masters.
– I am very happy. Today was a tough game. Also, it was very hot.
There were not the simplest conditions. I don’t know what state Sinner was in. But it wasn’t easy for me, I tried not to show it.
I haven’t won such an important tournament for probably a year and a half. I’m not afraid to win. But still felt some discomfort. I was able to pull myself together and lead the game to victory,” the ATP press service quoted Medvedev as saying.
Medvedev reached the fifth consecutive ATP tournament final and became the first player since 1981 to achieve such a result. Previously, he had victories at tournaments in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai, and lost to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the recent Masters final in Indian Wells.
