$100,000 raised to help Ukraine at a charity tournament in Charleston

On charity tournament Tennis Plays for Peace in Charleston (USA) collected 100 thousand dollarswho will go to the aid of Ukraine.

The tournament was held in partnership with the Charleston Open, WTA Charities and the Elina Svitolina Foundation. Among the participants of the tournament are the first racket of Ukraine Angelina Kalinina, Americans Alisha Parks, Lauren Davis, Cathy McNally and Shelby Rogers.

“I am very grateful to all the players and the tournament for what we did. It is very important to continue helping the Ukrainian people. It’s a really special moment that we can help in many ways. The war in Ukraine is not over and each of us is fighting on our own front and doing what we can in our own way.”

“I missed the audience. Going out on the court and experiencing these moments, this excitement, I really missed it. It’s great to be back on tour. Of course, things are different now, but in many ways it’s wonderful. I love being here in Charleston. I feel ready. It will be a long way to get back to where I have already been, but I am glad for this challenge, ”said Svitolina.

Recall that today Svitolina will hold his first official match since March last year. At the start of the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston, USA, she will play against Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan.
