Ukrainian tennis players have a different start to prestigious competitions in the USA.
The prestigious tennis tournament of the WTA 500 series began in Charleston, USA. Three representatives of Ukraine also started the competition.
The main event is the return to the court of the ex-first racket of Ukraine, Elina Svitolina. Unfortunately, a year’s absence from the courts made itself felt: Svitolina won the first set, but lost the next two.
She lost her match with Angelina Kalinina, and the only one who managed to overcome the barrier in the first round was Lesya Tsurenko.
WTA. Charleston. 1/32 finals
Angelina Kalinina (Ukraine) – Anna Kalinskaya (Russia) – 6:7, 4:6
Lesya Tsurenko (Ukraine) – Paula Ormaechea (Argentina) – 6:1, 6:1
Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan) – 7:6, 2:6, 4:6
