Ukrainian tennis player took the help of a psychologist because of the war
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina spoke about her performance at the WTA 125 tournament in Saint-Malo.
“I have never been to this region. Before asking the organizers about the wild card, I googled what city it was. I saw a lot of beautiful photos. So when I received a positive response from the tournament, I was very happy.”
“What is it like for a former world number three to feel outside the top 1000 in the rankings? It’s okay for me, I know it’s temporary. I hope so. It is important for me to be 100% physically and 100% mentally ready so that I can compete well. Every time I go out on the court, I give my all, and the rating will improve over time.”
“From time to time I seek advice from a specialist who helps to focus, and then continue to move on on my own. Of course, I also needed the help of a psychologist because of the war in Ukraine. After my visit in February, I needed to recover.”
Svitolina reached the semi-finals of the tournament in Saint-Malo. The ex-first racket of Ukraine beat the Frenchwoman Leoli Zhanzhan in the last match.
In the next round, Svitolina will face top seed Sloane Stevens. In case of winning the tournament in Saint-Malo, the Ukrainian from the second thousand rating will immediately rise to the top of the fourth hundred.
