The first racket of Ukraine Angelina Kalinina gave way to final WTA 1000 tournament Rome. The Ukrainian could not finish the duel with Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan due to injury.
In the first set, Kalinina took the lead with 3:1. However, Rybakina won three games in a row, and then was able to snatch victory in the game.

During the tournament, the Ukrainian first knocked out Anastasia Blinkova, then passed the American Sophia Kenin and Madison Keys. In the quarterfinals, Kalinina defeated 12th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia from Brazil in three sets. In the semi-finals, the Ukrainian beat the Russian Veronika Kudermetova.
Kalinina played for the first time in a WTA 1000 tournament final and for the second time in a WTA-level tournament final. Last year, Angelina lost in the final match of the WTA 250 tournament in Budapest.
Thanks to reaching the final, Kalinina earned 272,200 euros in prize money and 650 rating points. On Monday, the Ukrainian will update her record and rise to 25th place in the WTA rankings. Rybakina in the new ranking will become the fourth racket of the world.
