“Thank you to the public. Sometimes you make me angry, sometimes I make you angry, but today I’m happy” – Medvedev after winning the “Masters” in Rome

Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev commented on the victory at the clay court tournament of the Masters series in Rome.

On Sunday, Medvedev defeated Dane Holger Rune in the tournament final with the score 7:5, 7:5. For the Russian, it is the first title of a tournament on clay. Moreover, Medvedev won the fifth trophy in 2023 and the 20th in his career.

Congratulations Holger! You are an incredible player, you will have a long career, you will win many more Masters. It was nice to share the final with you.

Thanks to my team, you were with me until the end. Who would have thought that I would be here? Honestly, I didn’t think so, but it happened. I am really happy. Thank you for helping me throughout my career to my coach and my wife. Now on to the titles. Thank you to my family and friends, you are all special to me, I enjoy it every day.

Thank you Judge Carlos. I thought Holger’s last ball had hit the field, otherwise I would have continued the rally and… Thank you, the public, for your support. Sometimes I make you angry, sometimes you make me angry, sometimes you make me happy, sometimes I make you happy. But I’m happy today, I hope you are too,” Medvedev said in an on-pitch interview.

On Monday, the Moscow native will move up to second place in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings.
