16-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva beat a compatriot Polina Kudermetova during the first qualifying round of Roland Garros.
The encounter lasted just over an hour and ended with Andreeva’s confident victory over her younger sister Veronika Kudermetova, Russia’s second runner, with the score 6:1, 6:4.
In another pair of the first qualifying round, where two Russians also met, Elina Avanesyan defeated Daria Astakhova in straight sets – 6:1, 6:3.
Later, several other Russian tennis players will participate in the qualifying draw, among them Anastasia Zakharova, Erika Andreeva (Mirra’s sister), Oksana Selekhmetyeva.
