This year the tournament will be held without Russians and Belarusians
Former first racket of Ukraine Sergei Stakhovsky supported the decision of the organizers Wimbledon remove Russian and Belarusian tennis players from the tournament.
“You can’t put a price tag on being able to live with your conscience. I salute Wimbledon, the only organization with a moral code,” Stakhovsky wrote.
Wimbledon’s decision to keep Russians and Belarusians out comes amid a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine that is now in its 112th day.
The removal of representatives of the aggressor countries provoked a sharp reaction from the ATP, WTA and ITF, which deprived Wimbledon of ranking points this season.
The main part of Wimbledon this year starts on June 27th. Three Ukrainian women have entered the main draw of the women’s singles competition.
