Murray pulls out of London tournament with abdominal strain

Andy hopes to recover for Wimbledon

British Andy Murray withdrew from performances at the ATP 500 tournament, which will be held in London.

After the final match of the event in Stuttgart, where Murray lost to Matteo Berettini, Andy underwent a medical examination. Murray was diagnosed with a sprained abdominal muscle. The Briton expressed the hope that he will be able to recover for Wimbledon.

“I am very annoyed that I will not be able to play in London. This tournament [ATP 500] very meaningful for me, especially after I successfully played several matches on grass, ”concluded Murray.

The main part of Wimbledon starts on June 27th. Russian and Belarusian tennis players were not allowed to compete because of their countries’ full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The total prize fund of the tournament this year will be a record 40.35 million pounds. The men’s and women’s singles champions will each receive £2 million. Finalists will receive more than a million.
