Triple Grand Slam winner in doubles Elena Vesnina praised the game of the Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva .
The 16-year-old Russian has qualified for the main draw at Roland Garros. Ranked 143rd in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, the Russian became the youngest tennis player since 1995, after Frenchwoman Amélie Mauresmo, who managed to break into the main draw at Roland Garros.
– I really like the way our new star, Mirra Andreeva, is playing. Amazing girl! I watched her last qualifying round against Camila Osorio, and I feel like she’s not playing a 16-year-old player, but a 23-year-old experienced tennis player. Yes, of course, there are still children’s decisions, emotions. But still, she deserves respect for her game at such a young age,” Vesnina told Sport24.
In the first round of Roland Garros, Andreeva will play with American Alison Risk on May 29.
