Multiple Grand Slam winner and former US world No. 1 Serena Williams received a special invitation (wild card) to Wimbledon, according to the tournament’s website.
On Tuesday, the 40-year-old tennis player announced her participation in the Wimbledon tournament on social media. Williams has not played since June 2021.
Also, a wild card was given to the winner of three Grand Slam tournaments, the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka.
Wimbledon will take place from June 27 to July 10.
