Belarusian tennis player Arina Sobolenko refused to hold an open press conference after reaching the 1/8 finals of Roland-Garros.
“In the interest of my own mental health and well-being, I have decided to skip today’s press conference. The tournament organizers have supported my decision,” said journalist Stuart Fraser quoting Sobolenko on Twitter.
On Friday, the Belarusian athlete beat Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6:2, 6:2) in the third round of the tournament. Instead of an open press conference, Sobolenko spoke in a closed format with only a few media representatives.
In the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros, Sobolenko will meet the American Sloane Stevens.
