Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal reported that he needed about five months to recover from the operation.
Nadal hasn’t been on the court since January 18, when he lost in the Australian Open second round. On Saturday, the Spaniard turned 37.
“As you know, I had an operation last night. Everything went well, an arthroscopy was performed on the left lumbar tendon, which has kept me out of competition since January. An old injury to the labrum of the left hip has also been repaired, which will help the tendon to develop better.
I immediately begin progressive functional rehabilitation. The recovery process, I was told, is five months if all goes well. Once again I want to thank you for the support you have given me and give me every day,” Nadal wrote on Twitter.
In May, the multiple Grand Slam winner announced that he planned to retire next season.
