Svitolina lost to Sobolenko and left Roland Garros-2023

Good performance Elina

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina finished speaking at Roland Garros 2023.

In the quarterfinals, the former first racket of Ukraine lost to the second seeded event Arina Sobolenko. The meeting lasted one hour and 38 minutes.

For the meeting, Elina scored three aces. Both sets ended with the same score 6:4 in favor of Sobolenko: Arina took three Ukrainian serves during the fight, giving up only one “her” game.

After the match, Svitolina refused to shake hands with Sobolenko. Probably, Elina’s decision is connected with Sobolenko’s neutral attitude towards Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine and the participation of Belarus in this. At Roland Garros 2023, Svitolina also refused to greet Russian Daria Kasatkina.

The current quarterfinal was the fourth for Svitolina in her career at Roland Garros. Ukrainian in June should play at a tournament in Birmingham.

Recently, Elina became the winner of the WTA 250 tournament in Strasbourg. This is her first trophy since returning to the Tour. Svitolina suspended her career due to pregnancy and the birth of her daughter.
