Kvitelashvili, who ended his career, thanked Tutberidze and the Russian school of figure skating

Georgian figure skater Maurice Kvitelashvili thanked the coach Eteri Tutberidze and the Russian School of Figure Skating.

Earlier, the Georgian Figure Skating Federation announced that Kvitelashvili has finished his sports career.

– The time has come, to which every professional athlete sooner or later comes – this is the suspension of their competitive activities. It is the suspension in order to give your body a break from everyday stress, which could otherwise lead to unwanted consequences.

But, to be honest, after thinking and weighing all the pros and cons, I came to the conclusion that the time to make this decision conscious has come.

I assure you, these are not the words of an athlete squeezed like a lemon – these are the words of a person who has enough gunpowder in his powder flasks, because there is still much to do. And then, I’m sure “Everything will be fine!” (Everything will be alright).

I am grateful to fate for having been surrounded throughout my sporting career by such wonderful people, thanks to whom I had the chance to visit two Olympic Games, six world and European championships, numerous international tournaments , visiting dozens of countries in different parts of the world .

Thanks to my coaches – Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze, Sergey Viktorovich Dudakov, Daniil Markovich Gleikhengauz for many years of joint cooperation. And, of course, I am grateful to the Russian school of figure skating, where the foundations of my sports career were laid and where I learned everything I can and shows for twenty-five years, – wrote the skater in the Telegram channel.

The athlete also thanked the Ministry of Sports of Georgia and the President of the Georgian Figure Skating Federation Mariam Giorgobiani and separately noted the work of journalists.

28-year-old Kvitelashvili is a bronze medalist at the 2020 European Championships. Previously, the skater trained in the Tutberidze group.
