Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) vice-president Alexei Selivanenko told RB Sport that the Russian Karen Khachanov and Serbian Novak Djokovic played a match worthy of the quarter-finals of Roland Garros.
Khachanov lost to Djokovic on Tuesday with a score of 6:4, 6:7 (0:7), 2:6, 4:6. The Russian, having reached the quarter-finals, repeated the best result of the Grand Slam tournament on clay.
What was wrong with Karen? It usually lacks a bit of everything. Visually, of course, one can say that at times the attention dropped a little, the service began to go wrong. All in all, it was a great match worthy of a Grand Slam quarter-final.
I don’t think Karen has any particular reason to be unhappy with her performance in this tournament, although of course you always want more,” Selivanenko said.
Khachanov reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year, in January the Russian stopped one step away from the final of the Australian Open.
