Athletistic/Tennis. The French Tennis Federation spoke about the scandal of the damaged Ukrainian flag. The incident happened before the Roland Garros quarter-final match between Ukrainian Elina Svitolina and Belarusian Arina Sobolenko.
The organizers of the competition had to cut the canvas because of its inconsistency with the dimensions authorized for transport to the stadium.
“We have nothing against the Ukrainian flag. We would do the same with any other,” the representative of the French Tennis Federation told Reuters.
Sobolenko beat Svitolina in two matches. After the match ended, the tennis players did not shake hands.
The current champion of “RG” is the Polish Iga Swiatek. The Paris tournament takes place on clay from May 28 to June 11.
